アングルのせいなのかもしれないけど0:25～の3Aはとてつもない高さ。確か84年のNHK杯のEXでの成功だったと思います。当時15歳（中3）。この後、骨折してしまい脚への負担を考えて封印、再び彼女の３Aを目にするのは4年後になるのですが、怪我さえがなければもっと早く国際試合で成功していたでしょう。タラレバですが。本当に彼女は不世出の超天才フリースケーターだったと改めて思います。

Even her final scratch spin was so centered, there was no traveling whatsoever. I don’t care if the Russian teenagers could do quads, none of them could ever jump as high as Midori. They jump so much lower but they simply starve themselves to death so they can be waif thin and try to be as tight in the air as possible just so they can complete the revolutions before gravity takes them back down. With Midori she’s able to complete these jumps with her muscular thick legs and high leg wrap , which she does on purpose to avoid overrotating - LET THAT SINK IN - TO AVOID OVERROTATING! That’s right , she jumps so high she has to slow down her rotations with a leg wrap ( like the sails on a sailboat) to produce drag. If these drugged up Russian teenagers widened their midair position, they would only be able to complete double jumps because they jump so low.

He was the greatest skater, Shame that he wasn’t recognized for his brilliant talent till after his death, gone too soon ❤

傘持ったままの2Aもすごいけど、傘差したままのデスドロップも結構すごいと思うの… 今思えばこれが現役最後の演技だったんだよね。手先まで意識の行き届いた滑らかな演技で、表現力が無いと言われてた頃があったのが嘘のよう。

OH. MY. GOSH! INCREDIBLE!!! I began watching ice skating regularly in the mid 80s. How did I never hear of this brilliant skater?! Impeccable musical timing- even with several dramatic pauses. Graceful elegance of the best ballet dancers. Clean lines. Beautiful choreography. I've seen the ballet Don Quixote several times. This was as fabulous as when Baryshnikov danced with Cynthia Harvey.

RIP. Gone 30 years ago today. While great skaters continue to leave their mark on the sport both athletically and artistically, John Curry is likely to always remain #1 for me!

もうこの演技を300回ぐらい見てますが色褪せないし、いつ見ても感動します。2024年の今でもこんな演技をしたら余裕で優勝出来ると思いますが、35年前の演技ですからね。今なら女子選手が4アクセルを跳べるのと同じぐらいのレベルだと思います。100年に一人の天才と言われていますが、この演技は100年後でも色褪せないでしょう。

片足でスーッと入ってくる王道のルッツ、良いですね🎉 最近では直前までステップをしてるから…仕方がないですけどね。
